According to the great sage of art Matthew Collings the Tate Moderns hanging procedure and policy on curating work shouldn’t be criticised too harshly because they are very successful in getting large amounts of people through the door of the Tate.

I must be missing the point if we use a similar criteria for judging all of culture then tabloids and gossip magazines would be considered to be our most revered contemporary literature.

I would like to address this with Mr Collings because I think this is a the root of all our problems with the quality of contemporary culture. Maybe this is the culture we deserve as a society because we value money and power above all else.

What we need in this country is to stop promoting and funding bad art. Scrap the Art Council and locally funded developments lets put all this money back into education. Lets stop this self serving facade for art.
